Artificial intelligence has quickly become one of the most discussed topics in further education.
New tools continue to emerge, expectations continue to grow, and colleges are increasingly being asked to consider how AI might support everything from learner engagement and attainment to operational efficiency and compliance.
At the same time, many of the challenges facing the sector remain unchanged. Teams continue to balance rising expectations with finite resources, while the administrative demands surrounding recruitment, delivery, funding and reporting show little sign of slowing down.
As a result, attention is shifting from what AI can do in theory to where it creates meaningful value in practice.
For many colleges, that value is unlikely to be found in standalone applications or separate tools. While these can provide useful capabilities, they often sit alongside existing processes rather than within them, requiring staff to step away from the work they are already doing.
